1) more power. faster recycling speed(so won't missed much shots). can use as Master Mode in Nikon CLS.
2) SURE! but boils down to what you shoot actually. |

3) Can have manual mode 4) Can work with other hot shoe cameras like Fuji S9500, Panasonic FZ10/20/30/50.... as Auto flash 5) With additional of SD-8A, can have almost instant recycle of flash power. I owned both SB600 and SB800 at one time and sold the SB600 in CS. |

Don't treat it as upgrade... Treat it as addition to firepower!

Use the word "add on" rather than "replace"

Hi Rodel,
I am a Sb600 user, I tried using the SB800 at a wedding yesterday. The SB800 is more reliable.. in many situations during weddings and places where flash is essential. It is also much better with the gary fongs' light sphere, on a sb600 I have to +0.7 for the light to look good but on the sb800 it looks so much better without having to +/-. I find the sb600 too slow and the ttl mode is not as good as the sb800's. I do not know the technical aspects. But from a layman point of view it's worth extra. But I find that the sb600 looks better if you can wait for the batteries to recycle. The Sb800 would be too bright for some cases.. But that's because I am a newbie. ![]() |

i am using SB600. IMHO, unless you are shooting a lot of wedding or event if not, i dont think is worth to upgrade.

I also realised that the SB-800 can continuously fired 2 shots (max.) of the actual power of light if your shots is in continuous frame mode (either the faster or the slower one, it makes no difference at all). With only 4 batteries in it as I experience that. Any other dude out there experience that before? And care to share too? ![]() Last edited by Spectrum; 21st January 2007 at 10:20 AM. |
