Hi everyone
100% P&S Camera Macro taken with Fujifilm Finepix F450 C & C welcome. The following pictures are not as good as my previous camera setup, it will be very disappointed to some of you. Please bare in mind this camera is 100% P&S(I call it tourist camera), bought from Courts during sales for only $299. Shots taken with my daughter Fujifilm Finepix F450 with add on BMO(Build My Own) lens, home made diffuser(recycled milk container), everything is on auto, there’s no manual mode, do not have any screw thread for tube attachment which you can mount other lenses, I used my favorite bluetag. I believe nobody ever try Extreme Macro on this camera. The focusing is the most challenging part, because the LCD resolution is so low and graining, can’t tell whether in focus or not, not bad for shots with f5.6 max. Sorry! as for the lens I don’t know where it came from, dig around my old stuff, try it on and it works, I was very happy when I saw the results, wanted to achieved these for quite sometime, get a cheap camera and produce the best out of it. My conclusion is that I’ve tested quite a number of setup and I strongly believe that any camera from P&S to top of the line PRO DSLR can perform and gives you sharp and clear results, just work around it. This will not be my regular macro camera, just experiment only, did I pass the test fellow Cser??? #1 1/60s f/5.3 ISO80 working distance fix around 3” ![]() #2 1/60s f/5.3 ISO80 working distance fix around 3” This bug is only about 5mm, managed to get 4 shots only, was shooting at a very odd angle, ya. I know this is not the right picture to pose, the point is that I want to show that the camera can perform, you can see the honeycomb and the head is sharp. ![]() #3 1/60s f/3.5 ISO80 working distance fix around 3” ![]() #4 1/60s f/5.6 ISO80 working distance fix around 3” ![]() #5 1/60s f/5.6 ISO80 working distance fix around 3” ![]()

WOw Steve !!! Ya done it again...
Q1. How do you ensure that ya pic is so sharp everytime? Q2. How did u managed to get that blur background (bokeh)? Q3. How does ya milk container works? It seems pretty thick and seems like the built-in flash will not be strong enuff to light up the subject and the background. Pls pardon me for the newbie qn, I really hope to learn from you... Tks you in advance !!

Hi Steve,
One thing I was wondering. Partly because you are using f3.5-f5.6, I see about 30% of the photo is sharply in focus and the rest is bokeh. What would you do if you need the WHOLE insect in focus. Can you do it at 3" distance or do you need to step back? I took a few insects at SBG recently but did not post. There were quite a lot of shadows even though I tried to take the critters from different angles. Are there any optimal angles to take them with on board flash and diffuser or do I need to take only in locations with sufficient sunlight? Thanks in advance! |

I am always looking forward to see your posting.
Made me feel like throwing away my 105mm macro lens. Can buy 3 of the Fuji f450 with 1 105mm lens. Well i guess this is skill and understand of camera and lens that counts. Great Shots |
