Hi All,
I saw in another site review that Canon Elura 100 won the best value for money camcorder for YR 2006. Does anyone know in asia, what is the model of this cam. From what is see, all consumer cam comes with MVxxxx. I can't find Elura 100. Thanks, Terence |

Hi
If I am not wrong, it's called MVX430 in singapore. You can find specs for it on www.canon.com.sg I was also looking for a videocam recently. After much research, I finally settled for a Panasonic GS300 ($1040 incl GST + free gifts). Also very highly rated. Around the same price as the Canon, I think.

Hi,
Elura 100 is MV460 in singapore. I am surprise the price is so ex in singpaore, approx $1199. In US, it was selling for less than US400. Based on the price, it think it will be more worthwhile to get Pana GS300. Is the low light performance good for Pana GS300? Mostly I will shoot indoor... Terence |

I have not really done much shooting with the cam since I got it only yesterday. Did some casual shooting around the house just now. Video looks ok on the LCD.
I went for the panasonic becos of the 3CCD and also the fact that Panasonic is quite well reputed for their camcorders. You can read very detailed reviews at www.camcorderinfo.com, if you have not already done so.

GS-300 feels pretty good when I tried it
would have gotten it if I were not looking for something more compact. |

I got Elura 100 from US to take my baby's videos.
Total price = SGD 550 inclusive of GST and vpost shipping. I believe this is a suitable price pt for this class of DV cam. |

I assume the charger can accept 230V, right? My only concern is on the warranty, and also not sure any problem if try to play those old PAL miniDV tapes on it. |

You're the second person to ask. By doing the above, u're doing your own parallel import. Warranty is with Canon USA and will not be supported by Singapore office.
Charger is universal as per box specs. This is a NTSC version. Pls note your previous PAL tapes won't play on the cam though u can re-use them for new footage. NTSC doesn't matter to the PC download which is just plays and edit fine. Your TV should also be fine unless ancient. If u check the Net, it is alleged that PAL version (ie Singapore type) is superior and Canon USA charges an extra premium for that. To me, I can't tell so don't care much for it. |
