    Default White Balance?

    Hi,

Took the following picture in auto mode:

And took the following picture in aperture priority mode where the white balance has been preset previously:

For the second picture, does it look more "blue" because of the white balance? Do I need to preset my white balance each time? Or is it another issue altogether?

eh, i think you have used a different WB in the 2 photos, try using the same WB.

    #1 is auto WB
    #2 is custom/manual WB

    Both ISO also different.

    so can't compare both.

yes white balance need to be set, eveytime the color temperature of the scene change...
your 2nd pic, color temperature is too cool.

if you shoot in raw, you can always change it anytime. if not, you have to preset the correct color temperature. in most camera, there is option to choose between daylight, cloudy, floourescent.. etc

    have fun.

I believe the first pix is in auto WB since you use AUTO mode, and second pix is tungsten WB and it is from your last preset.

You can use auto WB setting, it will work MOST of the time,

however, if you want high accuracy of ALL the photos, you can use custom WB setting for every different type of scene, or shooting in RAW and fine tune WB during post processing

great thanks a lot for your help guys, i figured it was the white balance.

i did switch to the same ISO setting, but the picture was still too cool. so i figured it was the white balance, but wanted to check with the experts here.

    thanks guys!
