I do not understand what is the real reason for the banning.

If you go to the central library's reference section, you would see a lot of photography books that has full nude photos in it.

If they want to ban, might as well ban all the books in the library!

I think recently, a PRUDISH member of public complained to the MDA that a certain book shop was carrying a certain category of books and the MDA removed all the books - Heard this from a colleague, is this true?

    the answer is $.

If there's a way they can earn abit directly or indirectly...i don't see why they would ban it. There's so much more risque stuff on sale in Singapore. lol

since u mentioned, there somehow will be.
No matter how many good natured singaporeans there are,
there will be surely be some black-hearted scum who are anal-ly self-righteous.

Prudish? I think it's justifiable.. Apparently, the book shows pubic hairs of the various actors. If in movies, you get R21 rating, then this book will definitely get the same. If this book is allowed, u can argued for soft-porn like playboy etc to be allowed in Singapore as well.

Sure, it may be shot artistically (depends on who's opinion and may be subjective as some may say playboy shots are artistic as well... they are definitely "well shot portraits" as they are all wonderfully lit (good lighting), good exposure etc), so the arguement will not work when it comes to censorship.

More disturbing to me is the fact that it was reported that he shot some of the stars in swimming trunk and next thing you know, it's PS'ed off... especially worst if he did not forewarned them. It's highly unethical. If this is his style or way of doing things, then i will be ashamed that he's one of the best or at least well-knowned singaporean photographer.

P.s. i do not know him or seen the work or have anything against him personally. I based my opinion on newspaper reports in singapore, which i assumed will be truthful.

next time leslie should ask his models to snip off the public hair before the shoot. That way sure can pass the censorship.

haha, reminds me of Japan. Last time, the law in Japan says cannot publish photos with pubic hair but later they changed it to can, just cannot show you-know-what. All those lawmakers are most male

In Japan hairs are considered unclean except those that grow on top of your head.

And also many Japanese lawmakers are bald. But no one can confirm the growth situation in their you-know-what areas.

Maybe they cannot ban for this disturbing fact, so they use something else to ban? As far as I know, apart from Aaron Kwok, Andy Huo also expressed his displeasure to have his photos published in this book. I believe there are more.

Yes, I'll be ashamed too, if those are facts.

All of them in cahoots; generating publicity for each and everyone of them.

eh, sorry never heard of leslie kee

what is his claim to fame?

whatever it is, photographic genius is not one of them.

can we produce a W Eugene Smith?
    or a Sebastiao Salgado?

    http://www.terra.com.br/sebastiaosalgado/

why are "me too style" pictures of hairs and near-nudes so interesting?

want to see quirky glamour in B+W, see Helmut Newton, lah.

He has lots of international celeb shoots under his belt. Not that I personally feel it's anything to shout about.

What's interesting? Hmm... I'm not sure if this community is ready for the truth. As in, unabashed truth.
