I am deciding if I want to get a Sigma lens. But I am well aware of their notorious AF problems.
Has anyone been happy after they sent their lens to Sigma for focus calibration? Thanks a million for your response. |

I called sigma wanted to calibrate my lens.
They said : "We are busy, try to call again next week." |

I've sent my lens in for calibration before. They're pretty good.
It took about 10 days though (and it was not the festive period - so expect to wait longer). After the calibration was done, I tested the lens there and wasn't satisfied, it still front focused a bit. The technician (quite a nice chap, middle aged), brought me to the test lab and tested it with the cameras he had there and said it fell within the limits (which is +/- 3cm). He said he could help me calibrate the lens for my camera (EOS 350D), however it would mean that it might not be calibrated for other bodies. I did it anyway. BTW, it was a DG lens, so they can calibrate electronically. According to the technician, if it is the older non-DG lens, they'd have to re-chip it (~$120 and prob depends on the model as well) before calibration can be done. The calibration and testing took about 45 min in all. |

Overall yes.
While I was a little dismayed that the initial calibration is not spot on (due to their tolerence of +/- 3cm). I was happy that they were willing to share information, let me observe their calibration and testing process and calibrated my the lens for my body. |

for me, it was exactly one week. they need your camera and lens to take some pics. after that, they keep the lens and order the parts from japan.
one important thing to do first: Always call them to book a slot. i went there the first time without booking a slot. it was a wasted trip. overall, i personally think their servicing was good. calibration was successful. |

Thanks for the feedback. Guess I can safely go ahead to purchase my Sigma lens.

May I know if there is any charges for the calibration? Where are they located anyway? Thanks.
