it's for a torchlight to be put in a first-aid kit some sort.. so need very long shelf life without dying. The worst thing to happen is to see a torch during a black out and happily turn it on but damned! battery leak water liao..

How about I buy you a solar torchlight? When there is sunlight, it will light, without the sunlight, it wont light up for sure. Very trusty and batteries free.

the emergency kit is supposed to be in a fixed place of my house which I'm very familiar with. I'll just promptly go there and get the torch out

at the end of the day, i'm trying to have a maintance-free torchlight. Most alkalines self-discharge or leaks in a matter of 2 years or so. And such an 'emergency' torchlight is seldom or rarely used. Until the moment you really need it,wala! you've found the torch but it isn't working because the batteries are flat or have leaked and corroded the insides rendering it useless. Lithium otoh have shelf-lives up to 10 years, making it the perfect candidate.

It might not be placed at home, it can be placed in the car as well. Or in "full packs" ready for open mob inspection anytime.
