very artistic pictures indeed. how did you get such nice dark backgrounds?

You can also achieve the dark backgrounds by playing with flash, using a small aperature as well as a short exposure time.

That did most of the work, I did a little psing to make sure the black had no details.

Shots inside the dome were done with a 25-30 second exposure time, my camera was on a monopod and I rested the lens on one of the holes and shot from outside in.
