I've got to agree with DP on this, that a forum is demographically diversified, and hence we've got to agree to disagree on many issues that may arise from a discussion/argument.

In fact, hearing different POVs from all quarters can actually help us in seeing many things in a different light, and help us understand better and improve. This is something which we can't achieve if we are too full of ourselves and being opinionated.

It is sad in a photography forum, many choose to see things in only black or white. The "either you are with us, or against us" mentality is still quite prevalent.

Must there always be a winner or loser in argument and discussion. Sure, we argue to make others see our POV. At the same time, we must also go and digest and try to understand where the other party is coming from, and perhaps we can learn and empathise with the other party's POV as well.

Trying to win an argument, IMO, is no crime. But to win one at all cost, is truly a fallacy.

In general, I disagree that "many choose to see things in only black and white". There are definately a large group of such individual, and amoung them a few hard core "with us or against us" zealots. But by and large, I think CS is accomodating. The short coming is that the accomodating members are silent, while the zealots are very vocal.

The silent majority must stnd up and be recognised.

    Hmm....u've gotten a point there.

But if these silent accomodating group were to stand up and be counted, would they still be labeled as silent and accomodating?

Is there a group amongst the duo tone zealots who choose to keep quiet as well?

Or are the vast majority of the members adults, that they just dun wan to be drawn into juvenile squabbles?

    Just my thoughts,

    Kenny

any humble attempt may v well back fire. worst case senerio is ppl argue on d definition of intellect, den mayb followed by who calls d shots...

intellect alone improves nothing if values/traits like empathy, tolerance, humility & the likes r sorely lacking.
