Default Christmas Magic on Ice

Shot on Sun17dec at 4pm. Lots of kids and just a handful of photogs and no huge crowds which was great for shooting. This was one of the best event I shot this year. Only thing is that I should have used higher ISO to get higher shutter speed so as to freeze the movement and get sharper pix. Well, should do better the next time la. So, here are a few to share. Image size made somewhat small becos not that sharp leh.

More to come later when the PP done.

They're good enough. For me the expression counts.

Wow... where was this? Can't imagine how they'd get actual ice there...

Yeah, good enough when displayed in small image size only. Hope to do better next time.

Ice skating is amazing - a combination of grace, dance and sports skills. Here we go another few shots to share here:

Nice pictures. Quite difficult to get a perfect shot of them. They are moving too fast. Agree?

Definitely... I was trying a bit when the kids were on stage... and I didn't get any good ones...

Thanks. Perfect shot? That's a tall order, Mdm. Will be delighted to get just some decent shots, good enough to post here, and notice the small image size?..

Moving too fast? Well, it is relative. For example, I shot the F16 fighter jet flying at 500kph at 1500feet altitiude during the Airshow at Paya Lebar. The plane was moving in one direction and could be readily following by panning.

Here, the skaters were like 6 to 10m away and moving pretty fast that I had a hard time tracking them to keep the subject in the frame. Anyway, for some fast actions, I fired off machine gun style.

Neither did I get any good ones, only decent enough to post here. Actually, I was hesitating if I should post such mediocre shots, but after processing, they look pretty decent

This was helluva challenging shoot.

The EXIF data in the pics are left intact. You may wish to check them out yourself.
Basically, ISO400-800, F4 onwards, 1/250s, jpeg Small/fine. Should have used higher ISO to freeze the actions and get it a little bit sharper.

Thanks. Caught the action by machine-gun shooting.
