Talking 6 or 8 megapixel replacement for EOS 1D on its way??

Taken from The New York Times, February 28, 2002

Lou Desiderio, a spokesman for Canon, said he doubted that the pixel gap between Canon's new camera and its most expensive model would last long. "It's pretty safe to say that a six- or eight-megapixel replacement for the 1D will be coming," he said.

I guess the annoucement will come at the end of the year, with product availibility in 2003. No company is dumb enough to replace a flagship product so quickly (unless it's total crap).

not really....all they have to do is to take out that 8 fps capability, replace it with 3 fps and position it as a high end studio camera. they can even keep it at the same price.

this will be quite similar to how Nikon positions their D1x and D1h.

That's a good thought, see if Canon does that first.
