I want to precharge my batts for an oversea trip but the batts are still strong, is there any way to discharge it and charge it again? I lazy to turn on flash and shoot blindly just to discharge

Its Lithium batteries right? They have no memory effect, why do you need to discharge? Just put it in the original charger to top-up can already wad.. if you are that particular. That's what I have been doing with my 4 original Canon BP-511A & BP-511. Somehow these original hold their charge longer, and last longer when compared to my Eastgear ones overtime. So, now I only use originals. I use until 1 bar or no bar, and sometimes until they cannot shoot any more then I change batteries. Last edited by Caspere; 15th December 2006 at 03:46 PM. |

I think for lithium batteries it's better not to fully discharge them. Check out this website. A lot of good information on batteries and how to prolong their life.

Very helpful battery life information frenchbean, thanks.
Though I think certain battery chargers can discharge their own batteries when the power is off but the plug left into the socket if theres a earth connection.
