Default Heading Home - Street Series

A street series I shot in Kagoshima-Chuo. Mostly F1.4, shot from the hip.

It's refreshing to see pictues taken from a not-so-conventional viewpoint. The lower-view point effectively gave depth to an otherwise flat shots, as seen in the #1, #5, #7, #8. The composition needs some refinement (like cropping and such) but that is merely a minor point in a series.

Instead, I'm distracted by how disjuncted the whole series is. Most of the pictures are consistent in that they depict movement, which really give your theme of "heading home" a punch. However, while some frames showed indeed the activities of what one may do while heading home, like businessmen smoking and students sitting by the roadside chatting, the images are rather static. It might be better if you were to consolidate these static images together, rather than littering them in between those with movements, making the whole series seems incoherent.

Anyway, I really really love #4. It's IMO very appropriate to your theme.

Thank you for taking the time to put down your thoughts. I'll admit in the rush to finish processing my photos before I book in this weekend I hadn't thought of the finer details like the coherence of this street series out of my entire bunch of Japan images. I took a look at these images again and I think you are quite right really. As such, I have removed the static images from the series. Thanks for pointing it out and glad you like #4
