Default CA on 100 macro 2.8

Hi
I've just bought a canon 100mm macro lens and discover that there is a lot of CA.
both cyan and magenta.
Is it common in 100mm macro or mine is a bad copy

It may be sensor blooming and not CA. try shooting a high contrast shot without over-exposure (225, 225, 225) and see if you still get CA.

It doesnt look like CA is a common problem with this lens thou, perhaps you could test another copy of the lens and see if u get the same problem?

Never had any problems with CA on my copy. Maybe one of the elements in your lens is slightly out of whack?

This was shot wide open on the 100mm macro and as you can see it was heavily back lit which should have created problems with CA but didn't.

how about u help me take some picture of shiny metal object with flash or spot light?
i took macro shot of my headphone with flash.
The metal screen got extreme CA that it looks like diamon screen look very funny
but if turn off the flash then not much CA.
for backlit also not much.
I took shot of golden ring under spot light also CA.

Ok. Did some test shots for you. Wide open with light from a table lamp. There is some CA but it's really not that bad considering the situation and the fact that the lens is wide open (should improve when stopped down).

100% crop:

If you think that's bad you should see the 35L wide open. =^/

Anyway, this sort of thing should go away once you stop down and it can also be corrected in PS. :P

Lol. Really looks like diamonds what. =^p Eh, convert to B&W maybe looks nicer? You can also try to shoot with the flash off the camera so that you don't get a direct reflection off the shiny surface.
