    Hello could anyone recommend a light meter. And is it necessary to have it.Thanks!

    depends on what u wanna shoot.....

    the advantage to using a light meter is incident light reading...

    use it or product shoots and portraits, check on camera metering accuracy. other than that not much else.

    Sekonic or Minolta are good choices.

    I think it would be good to read up on how to use a light meter and how it is used for different scenarios. Afterwhich decide if you need one for now.
