Default Sharp Lenses

Hi Ho,

i am currently having
the D80 Kit lens, 18-135mm
and a 50mm/f1.8

i notice the 50mm picture is MUCH MUCH sharper than the 18-135mm
and good bokeh...
whether i am using in manual or program mode.
is it possible due to the fact that i have a wider range of apegture or
is it simply cuz it is a prime lens..

i love using 50mm. but most of the time it is very restricted.
zooming, candid shot, wider angle .. is hard via 50mm....
hence i end up dropping to 18-135 when i want to take a wide range of photo..

please advise if any of the mid-zoom f/2.8 lens will be any good in the sharpness?

what is your take...

Well...

You can get the following lenses to complete the range from 17mm to 200mm.
AF-S 17-35mm F2.8
AF-S 28-70mm F2.8
AF-S 70-200mm VR F2.8

all are very sharp in terms of picture output.

Good bokeh on 50 F1.8 is a fact... becos is 1.8(any lens with 2.8 or bigger(eg. F2, F1.8, F1.4, F1.2) will have nice bokeh.
next thing is the lens construction. (elements/group inside)
program or manual mode is the same(only use to expose your picture differently)

could u input on why you choose 17-55mm in the end
is it due to the fact that 17-35 is abit limited range?

actually i do use 50-70mm.. but not as often as 18-50..

hmmm anything 18-70mm range? LOL!!!!!!!
