so long as it is nikon mount.... then it will be compatible....

the more popular 3rd party lens will be:
sigma 70-300 apo (II ?) lens tamron 90mm macro and many more... surf around and you will know....

D40 dun have AF motor in the body, so if you 1 AF, you need to buy Nikor AFS, AFI or Sigma HSM lens......
Tamron got lens with motor?

Read the D40 review.
D40 AF only work with lens(es) with motor inside since the D40 (body) don't have motor to do autofocus. There is no AF screw coupling like on D50/D70/D200, etc on the mount. Regards, Arto. |
