Default Macro on the Pentax DSLR

Hi Feng wei,
Swa your sample macro shots of the insects. Can you care to share what accessories you used and how you took the shot? Its very sharp. I would assume its not the kit lens or if its the kit lens, coupled with a close up filter?
Thanks

I'll bet they were with some version of the pentax 100m 2.8 macro.

Just like dnaxe said, it's from either an FA100/2.8 or DFA100/2.8 macro lens. I did use a 25mm extension tube on the ant (it is a very small red ant). Of course you'd need a flash, and a camera too I guess

A 90-125mm range macro lens would be idea for most people (50 is too short while 150 and above is too long). Better have some diffuser attached to your flash (or if you can, get a bounce card - a DIY one will do) so you won't have too much over blowns.

The only tip I can give is to practise and practise.

Good luck.

In relation to macro shots - here are a couple of images which are quite stunning, particularly considering the equipment used.

you should see tchuanye's macro photos. He uses the older FZ10 (the only one in the Lumix range with constant f/2.8) and his images are razor sharp with very high contrast.
Of course, I also tried my hand with this using a Nikon 4T close up lens and an FZ5 previously. Results not very promising. Am I to assume fengwei used a 100mm lens without any other attachments for his insect shot? If yes that would be impressive. I was thinking of getting an adapter and reverse mounting my FA50mm to achieve that...
Also, is it important for the lens to be a macro one?
