I was in MBK a week ago, there is a camera shop on the 1st/ground floor... I agree that just looking at the listed price, SG is cheaper... but then, if you bargain, the prices may be comparable... I never tried though...

But we too must take note of warranty issue. Unless its justifiable for that price without warranty.

The EFS 10-22 seems to be at good price if it's under intl. warranty.

Thanks for the tip, I guess the SLS attitude goes together with the low prices. Just wondering if any CSers had done any purchase there?

As far as camera stuff is concerned, Alan photo at SLS seems pretty reliable and reputable. ![]() |

.. anyway the shop looks "reputable", lot of lens/camera/tripods/etc, really feel like you go inside Cathay Photo Peninsula. But again since I never buy from them I won't be able to tell if they are genuine or not ... The price is in the pricelist pasted on the wall, so if you blur blur go inside and peek you dont have to deal with the uncles .. It's small though .. you have to find it before the uncle get you (last time it is somewhere behind the L lenses display) |

Was at the Nikon shop in MBK last week. They are selling the D200 + MB-D200 at 69000Baht which is approx $3000. Got the same combo from CP for only $2550. The savings of $450 is actually enuff for a Thai to fly to SG and buy the camera and spend a day taking photos with his new camera before flying home.

Everything in MBK is marked up. You will need to ask the local photography community where they get their gear (most likely they will tell you, you singaporean? Buy in singapore! Cheap!)
Put simply, any big tourist attraction place has marked up prices and its up to you to bargain. (ok, beat me. Im stereotyping)

I bought a used Tamron 17/3.5 with a leica-R adaptall from the ground-flr shop in MBK two weeks ago. Seems like a good price... about S$210. And I forgot to check if I can claim back the 7% GST ... that would make it $200!
The EOS 5D is cheaper than in Singapore. About S$3950+, even with GST. The pro shop on the higher floor seems more expensive. |
