try MS Colours in AMK Central. Look for Jackson. Their prices are competitive and you get good service from him.
2 years back a friend and I bought the D70. The price was at its highest in the market but after a few months Nikon dropped the price and without any request from us MS Colours offered us some compensation and we were very pleased. Go for them. |

i think u can go Cathay photo at peninsula
Do check the price in Club snap first. CP have good service ,uncle there quite friendly. Shouldn't buy at Sim Lim square, some shop may have good service but one moment u look blur, their fang on you already and the way they do bussiness,i don't like even sometimes can find things at good price. |

To save you lots of walking, calling the shops up in advance may help abit. See this post for locations and phone no's, and also its thread Nikon Price Guide for more useful info. HTH. |

Right on about the fanging thing. Hey Teeras, Newbie here too. But.. settled on a 2nd hand model first. Reason, went to a few shops... had the same attitude above... but... eventually, 1 shop gave me a good advice. I've stuck to that shop. Bottom line is, Go find a shop that you feel comfortable with the people. From there.. build a rep with them. From there, you probably don't have to worry about price again. As for Sim Lim... just got this... there is a camera shop... Scold me for asking about the Nikon F100.. they said there is no such model. "Yeah right" I've seen it. Cheers. |

Brudder,
The advice the shop gave me.... "If you are unsure about what to get... think about going 2nd hand first." No regrets with mine. I was contemplating between Nikon or Canon. I loved the Nikon D200 (Too Ex for my budget) But... my old fling caught up with me... settled for a Canon 300 D first... just to play around... understand DSLR and shooting. GOing to use this cam and go for courses. From there... may look at upgrade or use this as my spare or "Alternate" and the better as my main one. But since your baby on the way... Guess you might want to consider 1 shot and be done with it... rather than... play here and play there... Some shops to consider... Cathay Photo - I think 1 branch in Show house at Beach Road Camera Workshop - Peninsula ( A few here) Adelphi has a shop... not bad too. Will be swinging by Peninsula tomorrow... need help just PM me man. Cheers.. maybe can meet up. |

2nd model, depend, if condition good, still got warranty then ok,for film slr,a lot good deal in Clubsnap B&S . Also alot selling d50 body, if u want, can buy from them, get the kit lens also, 18-55mm good enough to take a special memory of ur kid, focus fast enough to follow the kid when she run (
long term ) and lighter than most model from nikon (d40 lighter i think ) U also can consider the d40 which is smaller, easier to use but if u serious in this hobby, i not recommend since some lens can't use with d40 and lack some functions.Cathay photo would be good enough, check the price in the price guide first , remmeber to check warranty, accessories, memory cards when buying ,don't rush. Uncle at Cathay is nice but sometimes if u blur on what u want, they may push u a bit to buy different model. Sim Lim, i hate, especially for buying camera, and they really got prob with people using film,go there ask about the film body on display and u will hear them. And don't dont honest in selling, even when u know the price , they have many others trick like giving a grey set with no warranty , hide some accessories that suppose to come with the set and ask u to buy separately or trying to ask u to buy some accessories which is overprice , if most the tricks don't work, won't u walk out happily, they may give u face but that happy ending usually not happen. to Teeras : congratulation. Hope to see ur princess pics soon. |

i also around city hall tmr to buy a 2nd hand tripod from a CSer . May be can help.
I check the website , i don't think u should buy from them ,not good. Prefer u go down the shop and try and CHECK urself. And Dslr not like others electronic ,spec is one thing, feel is other thing ,it may not look heavy or big but different when u hold it in ur hands. Don't try to save time by buying online and don't worry , Cathay service will be far better in Sim Lim square so u won't see any wolf gang around hi hi,sometimes i prefer to pay little extra at Cathay than go other shop because of their good service. Cathay got 2 branch at Peninsula and marina square. Should go peninsula shop, more things to see. Camera workshop good when u want to buy 2nd hand camera ,good price, ur old camera spoil can ask them to check and fix also. Adelphi also another choice to buy 2nd hand and old camera. CAn find some good old body and lens there at good price. |

thanks bahibo,
honestly i have been a victim of these people in lucky plaza i buy the sony ps2 console , i ask them the price of the ps2 and they give me a good price ,but in the end they said that the audio video cable is not included , thats why i also dont want to go to that place to buy a camera. why singapore goverment allow this things to happen this shops should have standard pricing, what i mean is they should put a price tag on every item that they sell.... |

then they put price tag higher then usual and tell u that u got discount, u happy but never know the price not right
Lucky plaza only Lords good but i don't want to go there since i'm not singaporean, all the shop keeper around looking at me with wolf eyes ,very afraid of them. Teeras, next time remember to ask about shop in the consumer corner hi hi. U have any model in mind ? And the location near ur house , there are more good shops, not only Cathay, may be can go somewhere nearer. |

just want to add...
you can visit www.bargaincity.com.sg their offer is sometimes the best value. I bought my 400D few weeks ago from their shop after surveying for prices at Funan (John 3:16, Crystal system, south east asia) and looking at Courts/Harvey Norman advertisements.. BargainCity offered the best last time.. but not sure this time.. but i always visit their website for price reference in singapore (at leats you dun need to go the shop and ask for the price). any way, UOB credit card (and i think OCBC) offer 0% installment on 400D, with quite good freebies.. may want to consider.. just my 2 cents |
