Hi guys,
I am using D50 and suddenly my flash is not working. I am currently in Peru, Lima and there is no way i can get it repaired. So my only option is to buy an external flash. Need help on which one to get because it is very expensive for such items in Peru. SB-80DX - 260 USD. SB-600 - 400 USD. Please help. I need to take the fireworks for the coming christmas. |

Oh ok thanks i didn't know that.. What about taking shots of the lights along the coast lines? ExplorerZ yeah electronic stuff here damn expensive. Old model laptop here cost the same as the latest model in States and its only 7hrs flight maximum. |

How about ordering online and getting it delivered to you? Maybe by some chance it will end up cheaper..?

You only need a flash if you have a subject, such as a person, that you need to light up at night. For shots of fireworks and lights along the coast lines you'll be doing long exposure shots, so what you'll need is a good tripod and remote release. If you can't find a remote release, make use if your camera's timer to avoid camera shake. _ |

BTW, Sb-80DX will not work in the ittl mode in d50. Suggest you to get a SB-800 if you want to get a flash gun.

Yeah.. get a tripod instead.
You'd need long exposures for the fireworks. Not a flash... |

Thank you everyone for your responses.
Really appreciate it. Btw the SB-80DX is 2nd hand with alot of scratches and still cost 260 USD.. Online ordering the local government tax alot. Why the D50 flash have to fail when (think) i need it =( sigh. So happy now that i know i dun need flash for those pictures. Last edited by iamanewbie; 11th December 2006 at 12:16 PM.
