Hi all,
Normally, if i had the time, i would read through the threads, look up reviews and user opinions of the laojiao. But the thing is my part-time job and social commitments leave me with little or no time. What's more, my family has just planned a sporadic trip to HK and the household still lacks a digital camera (horror of horrors). Please don't count my 6610i as a camera So i hope you guys don't mind this quick way of buying a camera. 1. I don't have a budget because I do not know what is the price of getting a good digital camera! What we're looking for is just something that will last for a while without having to fork money out to purchase another one. I'm sorry if this sounds vague. Therefore, as long as the camera is good value for money, I'm willing to purchase it at any price. Of course, at a reasonable price since i'll be paying part of it with my hard-earned money. 2. Our needs are simple, it's simply for taking scenery, family pictures and pretty people and clothes that I see. 3. My sister may want to use the camera to take up photography lessons, but that's just a small factor i s'pose. With regard to the shops, I understand that shops like Alan Photo, Cathay Photo, M.S. Colour service are reputable. So after knowing what camera to buy, I'll just head down to either of these shops to get one. I'm hoping there is an easy answer to cameras like handphones. i.e. during its heyday, the 6230 is the must-buy phone. What is the must-buy camera currently? Thanks all! |

Since your sister is taking up photography, you must at least buy a camera with most manual functions. Currently the cheapest dslr for a good start will be Nikon D40 or D50 which is slightly over a thousand dollars. But if you think that this is too expensive for you, you can go for the new Fujifilm S6500fd http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/fujifilms6000fd/ that cost ard 600+ or it near to dslr brother S9600 which cost ard 800+.

hi guys, thanks for the input, i'll check out the link! As for my sis taking photography, scrap that. i called my uncle and he has a D50 that he's willing to lend.
Normally I take CNET reviews with a pinch of salt, what do you think of this list? http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/digitalcameras/#tabs Thanks again! |

of course get the award winning fuji f30 or the improved f31. low noise pics at iso3200 the rest are all leg hair compared to it. get it at ms colors. AP isn't my first choice of preference.

I think home insurance might cover the camera itself, but perhaps not if it's borrowed. (shrug) |
