I have purchased the above a few days ago and was told that it is an "accessory" and not warrantied by Canon (note that the shop does not mean that it's a grey set but Canon do not provide warranty for this at all). Then I managed to dug out a card that says "international warranty".
So I went back to the shop and ask for a stamp on the warranty card, which he eventually complied, albeit not with full enthusiasm apparently. He insisted that if I were to service this within the warranty period I'd still have to pay Canon, and the warranty is only applicable in Japan, even after I pointed the "international warranty" in large print, and my experience with buying overseas lenses and got it serviced locally free of charge during the warranty period. Now I'd like to hear what you guys have to say. |

You don't have to be too fussed about the shop's reluctance to stamp your warranty card, as long as they have done it. If you need warranty on the ST-E2, you will be dealing with Canon Singapore directly and not through the shop you purchased it from.

Yep, I guess I got what I wanted. The thing that bugs me is that I kept hearing funny things from the so called reputable camera shop lately, such as 550EX doesn't work with DSLR.
