    Knighthunter:
After using the 80-200 f2.8 AF over a weekend, I've decided that I do indeed need the VR. I do alot of indoor inpromptu portrait shots, and I also like to use natural lighting, and therefore.... without VR, it's just a no go. So looks like I've convinced myself to the usefulness of the VR..on the AFS, I don't need, but then it comes with the lens!

Be careful of the unintentional Bokeh at the long end with F2.8.

me? poor simple student. fav...24-85 canon usm.. versatile and fast...good range also.
sold it once with my old body and bought back again!!=)
Dun fear my friend! It's the photographer that largely determines how good a shot is. Never let the f/2.8 giants scare you.

Though I own L lenses myself, it is the innocent zooms like 24-85 that I love. Sharp and can equal my L in general shooting.

Well, some people buy a particular lens because of its bokeh. And some lens manufacturers design a particular lens to have good bokeh. If not for the price issue, I'd take a 85/1.4 over a 85/1.8 as it has better bokeh and it's 2/3 stops faster.

My Nikkor 24mm f2.8D is on my camera most of the time..I just love the angle of view of the thing The rest of the time I either have a 50mm f1.8, especially in lowlight situations or the 105 micro on...

I would love to try on the pro-level nikkor zooms but no money as a poor student, so am now madly practicing my lens changing technique with my 3 primes whenever I go out and shoot

    i love 19mms anything ultra-wide really..., 24mms and 135mms...

i really want to see the world at 50mm... give that standard lens more life..

i dunno.. but at 135mm.. perspectives looks very nice.. nice enough for me.

    and mirror lenses facinate me..

Wow very difficult question. But the most used lense was the 50mm for sure. For traveling then i use either the 24mm most of the time or the tamron 28-200 XR lense if i only want to bring one lense. That was when i was using my fm2n.

Recently just got a D, at the moment am using the 18-70 that comes with the camera, else i would use the 28-200 XR tamron which i use for my travel last time. Don't have much money left to buy new lense now, i think i will make do.

Favourite lens hands down (from among my meagre collection) is the 70-200 f/2.8 VR. Use it as my default lens, and only change to the 50mm f/1.8D or 18-70 kit lens for wider angles/close portraits
