hi,
like to hear from all of you: 1 which is the best nikkor lens that you own or have owned or have used? which is the lens that you ultilise most and the one that you would never sell even if you had to sell everything.... the lens that has given you the most memorable pics and you cannot afford to lose or will not leave home without it.... 2. which is the most over rated lens... highly rated by people but not useful or good for you? how many times have we relied on the opinions of others and reviews from top pros and when we take the plunge and buy it, we are disappointed at the lens.... could be anything: bokeh, sharpness, wideness, range, value for money etc.... there are so many lens in the B&S, could it be that these lens are in this category or have they outlived their usefulness or are the owners upgrading to a better lens? just like to kick start some discussions here.... love to hear your voice and opinions.... thanks ![]()

hi,
like to hear from all of you: 1 which is the best nikkor lens that you own or have owned or have used? some nikkors that i've owned and loved from one time to another... AFS17-35 f2.8D - my favourite lens. AF60 f2.8D Micro - sharpest Nikkor i've ever owned. AF105 f2D DC - solid performance. very very good portrait lens. AF50 f1.8D - everybody love this lens. AF24-85 f2.8-4D - under-rated. AF28-105 f3.5-4.5D - under-rated. AF70-210 f4 - good and cheap and hey, it's constant f4! bought one at S$350 used. 75-150 f3.5 Series E - really good. cheap, at around S$150 used. 2. which is the most over rated lens... highly rated by people but not useful or good for you? 1). AF70-210 f4-5.6D - the lens that is highly praised by the guru, ***. in practical and reality, not as good as he claims it to be. the funny part is some owners who are selling for one reason or another, chose to rack up the price to S$400 and beyond. AFS55-200 f4-5.6 is a beta lens IMO and it can be had for only S$200 used. just my views. YMMV too.

best nikkor lens:
AFD 85 f1.4 (sharp and contrasty) AFD 20-35 (versatile and solid build) Over rated: AFD 80-200 (too heavy for me, not practical to carry it all the time) |

What are some of the most useful lenses for film have suddenly become quite useless for DX crop. Some of these are AF28/1.4, MF35/1.4, 28-70/2.8.
What has suddenly become very useful is 50/1.4 although its use is rather limited for film. But I would still rate the 18-200VR as the most useful lens for me. |
