    If the F31fd is the same price as F30, get the F31fd. If the F30 is cheaper, get the F30. In my opinion, face detection is not worth the extra money as you can always frame and focus the shot yourself.

    Also, while the S6500fd uses the same sensor as the F30, it appears that the imaging algorithm used by the S6500 is different from the F30. At high ISO levels, images from the F30 retain more details than the S6500. Unless you're shooting in RAW, the image from the 6500 loses to F30. But of course, if you want more zoom and don't mind the size, get the 6500, for the "lousier" image quality of the 6500 still beats other cameras hands-down.
