Considering the improvements in noise reductions of the 20D and 30D and all the other bits of niceties like 0.2sec start ups and usb2.0+++ when will you decide to upgrade and what will be the reasons for it?

The 10D is still a good camera to use despite it's shortfall of a small buffer.
Once you understand your equipment well and work around its minus points and exploit its strength, you'd realize that a camera is just a tool to capture light. |

I've got a 20D for its fast startup, but I'm keeping my 10D for its quiet shutter.

Upgrade?? Nah not in the near future as well. My 10D is superb!! Thanks to sumball!
Anyway i love 10D for its built, quiet mirror slap and ergonomics. I've tried 20D and 30D but they don't seem to match 10D in these fields. Slower starting-up time and small buffer of 9 frames and 3.3fps continuous shooting is no big deal to me since i do not take sports or fast moving stuffs. The 9 frames buffer will suffice. In future if the shutter does wear out, i'll just bring it for servicing. The 10D is a real workhorse, no regrets!!

![]() hey but if you shoot in RAW the 10D has an advantage over 20D and 30Ds! Last edited by fooey; 9th December 2006 at 01:58 PM. |

5D looks more like a 1D series though as it does not have a built-in flash. But 10D's built-in flash i also don't use as it's too low. I haven't shot RAW in my 10D yet cos i heard need software to convert the RAW files to be made viewable.

10d can keep as a second body
useful in events when carrying 2 bodies, one mounted with wide zoom and the other mounted with telephoto |

My 10D is kind of falling sick lately leh. During the last couple of events, the AF point like macam not very accurate. So I brought my wifey's 350D along for one session and shot the same pic with using the same AF point.
The 10D tend to mis-lock one out of maybe 10-15 shots. Maybe its a sign that it wants to be retired. The body is quite season liao and the shutter count should quite high already - yet to go for servicing but the count is into its 3rd lap already. |

I got a 10D and 30D.
Initially, I tot of holding on to my 10D untill it's really beyond repair and change/upgrade 30D when future models are available. Reason being, I (still) hate the 30D mirror slapping. Ultimately I'll proceed to 1 series once Canon target of extended DR sensor is available (hopefully within $6K). However, recently there is some change of usage as my wife is using it as secondary photographer. I find that I'm leaning more to ef-s for her setup which would be lighter for her and she worn't need to use my lens which I got no duplicate focal length range. So, now still considering should I have a 10D + 1D non-efs combi or 30D + 1D combi.

If u're referring to the loudness of the mirror slapping, the 1D series will be just as loud or even louder.

and furthermore, since u hv no duplication of focal length range, it is best to go with 30D+1D combi. |
