Quote for 350D

Hi guys, i gt a quote for 350D for 1,188. do you guys think its reasonble? i'm a newbie here trying to buy a dslr to kickstart my photography interested. need some advice here

i'm nt sure whether they will throw in any freebies.

350D comes wif kit lens everything tt is in the box.

depends on you bah, cause there are ppl whose selling 350D, with grip, with kit lens, spare battery and 1GB CF also selling around that price. So it'll depends on you whether you mind second hand body and lens or prefer everything new.

i would prefer it to be new..but hmm if a good offers come along the way.. of course! i'll grab it! haha..

think it'll be good if you go round sourcing for better price from shops and keep a look out at the BnS market here.

Yup, agree with etegration. If you get the 350D, get it 2nd hand. If not save a bit more and get the 400d reasons (in no particular order):

1. bigger screen (but you lose the 2nd lcd which I think is a bummer, 'cos I find the 2nd lcd very useful)
2. 10MP sensor (not a big deal IMO)
3. sensor dust cleaner (quite useful)
4. 9 pt auto-focus with cross-hair centre point (very useful IMO)
5. Software tweaks (change in more settings, picture styles etc - no big deal IMO)

hmmm...my post kana cut off? i meant to say, get a 2nd hand 350D if you want a 350D, if buying new, get a 400D. no need to think. you won't go wrong with that decesion.

A 2nd hand will do the trick!!
I bought one on ebay almost new, kit lens and body for $400 a few months ago!!!
Now that was a GOOD deal!!
Quite a lot cheeper then $1,188!!!!

I went to Jusco (JB) yesterday. A shop quote me RM2500 for 350D Kit.
~SGD$1080, Can we get it in Singapore at this price or lower ?
Has anyone bought a Canon DSLR from Malaysia ?...
1. Can the buyer claim back the 5% GST when leaving Malaysia ?
2. Is the warranty covered in Singapore, if not izit covered in JB ?

usually, i just buy if the price is within my budget, i can't be bothered to walk around for days, weeks and months just to get like maybe a $50-$100 cheaper prices... its just not worth the effort.... ultimately, i think that us consumers shouldnt have that "maybe the next shop is cheaper" attitude ^^

If u buy from JB, firstly, there is no GST in Malaysia. So, GST refund is totally out of the question. Secondly, the Canon Service Centre here will not honour a Malaysian warranty unless it's an International Warranty. Last but not least and perhaps the most important point to note is that your entitlement for bringing any new goods into Singapore is limited to $50 if you stay in Malaysia for less than a day, $150 for a day but less than 48 hours and $300 for more than 48 hours. Anything more than your entitlement is subjected to the 5% GST which the Customs Officer at the Singapore side of the causeway will impose on. Let's say you make a day trip to Johor to buy the camera at $1080 and, after deducting the $50 entitlement, the balance of $1030 is subject to 5% GST; which is $51.50. So, all in, your camera will cost $1131.50. Of course, u can take your chance by not declaring the new purchase or are able to convince the Customs that the camera is not a new product.

I'm think you buy in singapore rather than malaysia as you don't know whether the product
is still in good condi ...
