Default Chingay Preview : Popeye the Sailorman

This is the one of few decent shots that I get.....

Will try a different approach tomorrow..

For this kind of light condition, I don't pray for much luck of using 70-200, even with monopod. Wide angle is easier to stablize. But not necessary to shoot evey frame from low angle, let's explore more style.

anyway those with bad cams like mine should stick to the seating areas esp the funan side, where there's spotlighting and afaik the performers "practicing" a bit.. good for candids and portraits..

then after that shd go to where tomshen went, the south bridge side to catch the PROPER arrayed formations...
imho those stuck between funan to the bridge faced bad lighting PLUS unwarmed up performers...

So not bringing ur monopod liao? Think I won't bring tripod also.

Agreed man. I was one of those unlucky ones stuck outside the Parliament Building gate, btw funan and the bridge near Boat Quay. IMO lighting was terrible there, external flash also not much use one. And most of the performers also just zoomed past us without stopping....not enuff time to focus and shoot them properly. (esp wif my cam which is terribly slow focusing in low light conditions).

the holding area is quite nice to take pics at if ur like me and dont have a good lens to use. =) can ask them to pose for u, up close.
