to me when phtography is your main rice bowl, then you are a pro
    and to be a pro,
you will need to have a certain standard or your rice bowl will be empty

so 1stly it has to be your main rice bowl
and if you are good enough the rest will follow

otherwise it is just pro standard and pro equipment
    but still not a pro

    it's just a photography forum.

if you really dont like/cant accept someone's criticism, why even in the first place post your pic for c&c?
moreover, there's the scroll bar and you can always skip to the next post.

just like someone who shot me recently that when he logs in, he gets annoyed seeing me posting for queries regarding new equipments to buy.why?if it annoys you, just hit the back button and move on with another thread.

that having said, i have to say this again,

i love DP's comments.it very often reflects what i want to say about some pics being posted here in cs.just that for me, i hesitate sometimes in making 'enemies' unintentionally in a forum, prob i do not like flame wars and am a peace loving person.

    cos
i dun shoot to get paid
i dun receive comments about my pics are good. (i scrutinise my pics, they'll never be good enuff anyway)
i dun have pro equipments, cos i can't afford
i dun have any awards to my name
    i dun have press pass

anyway in CS its mostly the same group of ppl rubbing each other's ego calling each other pro... nothing new, and nothing thats really uniquely singapore... or is it uniquely CS?
    i would say uniquely singapore.
i dont very often see ego rubbings in o/s forums.
sgpreans has very very big egos.i'm sorry to say this, but this applies especially to sgprean men.

which 1 are u tying to find out? i find the word pro used super loosely over here, any tom dick & harry is a pro in CS, cos every other guy who shot a beautiful girl is a pro, cos they look at subject and not the skills...

Rules, can be very loosely defined. Yanni's music is nowhere classifed as out of the world. His music is still governed by beats. By melodic coherence. By pace. By climax. By introduction. These are all essentials for him to create, even within in his head. After he created in his head, he needs help of other 'trained' musicians, whom I suspect are no less talented. To direct the music. To put the melody in context. To bring in accompaniment. All these needs some form of training.

    I'll simplify my philosphy.

You cannot break rules, if you are not aware of them.
Student breaks rules that he is aware of. When DP advocated 'neat' hair to be conventional of a particular photography genre, Student shows how the rule can be broken. Why is 'neat hair' conventional? For photos that were posted with messy hair, 99/100 times is a result of ignorance. Not deliberation. How come Student can create with messy hair? Because he knows what neat hair depicts, and how he can manipulate this 'rule' to his advantage. But is it wrong for DP to raise the awareness of the rule?

Another example. Photos posted in CS has to be sharp sharp bright bright. But Student delberately breaks this rule with OOF photos. How can he do that? Sometimes he uses the OOF to bring the eye to the center of attention, which is not necessarily always the subject's eye. Sometimes he uses OOF images to influence his audiences state of mind, such as confusion, bewilderment.

But 99/100 OOF pics posted here are a result of handshake.

These are not 'breaking the rules'. These are blindshots. And all the fluff about these shots trying to pass off as art is making me barf.

You can't break a rule if you don't know the rule. Understand why the rule exist, break it to suit your purpose.

Be perceptive if you will. Applies to others as well. Refute if you must, for the sake of it. Is there no middle ground in CS?

Jimi Hendrix is self "taught" like you mention, he knows the rules. I learn the guitar myself, I know the rules in order to play it.

This whole thing is a farce. All this sun tzu crap ..is it a new trend now?
    Sheesh.

Professional, simply means that one is making money out of what one is doing.Pwill equate quality with the professionals as that's suppose to be the reputation. Same with a jogger and a professional athelete.

Everybody here worry too much about the pro word.

The final victor is the one who takes that 1 single photo which transcends emotions, thoughts & spirit to silence everyone once and for all.

I'd say, NOBODY HERE barely at that level yet.... unfortunately.

On the entire topic of shit & hypocrisy...

Well, I'd say (after thorough self-examination and the sideshows I've been seeing thru out my adult life) - Everyone has an ounce of shit and hypocrisy.

It depends on how much one decides to push it up the surface. If one decided to push all out to the surface, does it really mean that the other's less hypocritical/less shit than the other or posses less shit than the other?

Chill both of u. Get a Sapporo (no, I don't really fancy Tiger) each. Crack a cold 6-pack and drown that emity.
