I shall out the map as what u mention. I can onli recognis e place.

Just to cfm, is it the area where both side of road are filled with stalls and its along the curving road? I think there's a flyover too... I went at night so I cant see much. Other then that, there's alot of buses there too.

Is it known at Thieves Market too?

Not many tourist went there tho. Mostly local.

According to the map I got at the old BKK airport in 2004, There's 2 market in the area.Sampeng market and Thieve's market. I'm talking about Sampeng's market.

I second this night market too. Its stuff is predominantly similar to Chatuchak and prices are similar too if you bargain..best thing its a night market.so no need to sweat so much as compared to going to Chatuchak..

Not only that, there are many good food stalls there including one huge beer garden selling food n drinks with a big stage for nightly cultural performance. Besides, this place is easily accessible - just outside Lumpini MRT Station.

Suan Lum is expensive compared to Chatuchak.

Anyway Chatuchak is still open. It is cheaper and u can find many things there.

Went Sampeng Lane also but found that the things there are expensive. If u want to buy clothes in Bulk get from Pratunam.

Have to be very careful when you are there. My good frend juz came back from BKK. Had his wallet in his trouser pocket picked just walking through the crowds.

    Thanks for the alert .
humm. I think that is common in tourists packed area , not just in BKK . Normal precautions should be taken.

Anyway , Saw this at my hotel's ground floor entrance on sun

Anyway , is Pantip Plaza in BKK worth a visit there ? How's the prices there ? Thinking of getting another camera bag if the prices there are ok.

Pratunam is not the cheapest place to buy clothing in bulk. Go to the wholesale market at Bobeh (mother horse in Teochew ). All the retailers get their stuff there.

another fren just returned from BKK. apparently the mkt is still standing. mebbe common sense prevailed among the Thai authorities so as not to kill a tourist attraction?

but, for some strange reason, the local taxis dun want to take people there... (at least according to my fren)...

Perhaps they are concerned tourists may get hurt if another big fight breaks out.

Junction of Krungkasem and Damrongrak roads.
Near to a hotel called Prince Palace Hotel.

Don't confuse that with Bangkok Palace Hotel.

15 min by taxi away from MBK.

Problem with their taxi drivers is that sometimes they fake not understanding you; and bring you the wrong way to another shop far away from your intended destination; because they get commission for bringing you there.
