In just a few years, DC's pixel count increase from 2MP to 11MP. However unlike CPU, whereby higher Mhz better, it may not be the case for camera.

higher MP not only need larger storage, but also faster processor to process the image. Just like CPU, the more transistor squeezed in a die, the hotter it will get and on a CMOS/CCD sensor, this will end up more noise.

back to topc, when do u think pixel count will stop increasing?

however if pixel count don't increase anymore, what else can be improve? since camera manufacturers have to come out with new products every year to survive and also need to have improvement over the previous products to encourage users to upgrade.

I think there will be a limit where the pixel count can increase. one day, the sensor resolution may become higher than what the lens can resolve.
