between the pinhole and the film plane is very near. If you do a search, you can calculate how big a pinhole you should 'drill' for sharp picts. but, on the other hand, WHO CARES...aiyah...if too tech then no fun mah....just shoot! love the result anyway. ![]()

Here's a thought, I would probably try it when I have more time. Let me know if it works.
Tape up your lens filter. Punch a hole on the tape where you can physically measure the diameter. |

These needles come in various length and thickness. It is the thickness that we are concerned here. Thickness is categorised in "gauge numbers". Here are the approximate measurements... Gauge Number : Thickness (mm) #38 : 0.18 mm #36 : 0.20 mm #34 : 0.22 mm #32 : 0.25 mm #30 : 0.30 mm #28 : 0.35 mm #26 : 0.40 mm Happy experimenting!

Drill a bigger hole and cover the hole with black aluminium foil. Then, use the acupucture needle to poke the foil (which will be soft enough to make a tiny hole, yet hard enough to remain in shape). Good thing is that you can easily make more if the foil gets damaged during use.

It's not really so much how accurate your pinhole is in diameter, the other more important factor that everyone has missed is how round the hole is.
Check your hole through a microscope or your scanner, and you will find that it's never perfectly round. The problem with smaller holes (35mm pinholes) is that they are usually so small that it gets even more difficult to poke a round hole. The second problem with using 35mm for pinholing is the magnification needed. I'm sure you scan at a very high dpi, and thus the negative gets magnified a lot. The problem with this is that the blur gets magnified on the way. So, your pictures look as such. I shoot with paper... for a good reason. See the pic. ![]() Last edited by csisfun; 1st December 2006 at 12:46 PM. |

There are some tips on making the pinhole and measuring it in this thread.
http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=50110 Here are some of the shots made with the camera: http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=59087 http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=59084 http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=50863 Agree that using paper gives you the best results. But the exposure time is much longer. The upside is that you don't have to worry about people walking in front of you - they will be like "ghosts" and won't appear in the final print. I started off with a film pinhole camera (using a very cheap plastic toy camera) and these are the results: http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=46725 Last edited by StreetShooter; 2nd December 2006 at 09:28 PM. |

I search thru the net...most 135 format pinhole are not as sharp compared to paper. I think what I've got is pretty close...but no harm trying again...will post result once I do a test run on my second "pin-line" plate on my zorki....![]() |
