![]() Hi, My first pic in the Critique. This shot is taken at the Botanic Gardens. Was trying to take pictures of subjects with backlighting. I have only applied auto-levels to the above pic n resize. Other info: 85mm F5.6 1/100s ISO 100 Feel free to give your comments on how this pic can be improved. Tks! ![]() Last edited by jklo; 25th November 2006 at 11:00 AM. |

Your pic simply belongs to the recycle bin or you should just press the format button on your camera, this pic is just a snapshot and nothing else that deserves a critic, and if you are going to ask about how to improve, might as well throw it in newbie section and state how to light up subject with backlighting. and also ask how to do cropping. I'll tell you the things that you have done wrong... Your picture have too much space, so much so, i think can make 3 pic out of it, a picture called void, a picture called holding hands, and another called shadow... even so, i'll still need to remove additional excess space. Notice that the big black devoid space on the left, its simply useless to portray a picture like this. Your subject should only be the maid & the child nothing else... if your title is stated otherwise then i got nothing to say. Subject is not visible, and i notice there is either some handshake or OOF, the picture is not sharp. Judging from the distance of the background, subject, and you, i say this shot is done via the infinity focus. what i'd do with this pic if i wanna showcase, which is extremely unlikely, i'd just do a crop, either a 1:1 square crop or a 3:2 vertical crop, just enuff to get the maid, kid & the shadows. just to give u a feel, i did a quick crop & bluring... ![]()

Looking at it, agree with you that the pic can be cropped tighter. Nice work with the crop and blur. Did you light up the pic as well, 'cos the subjects look brighter (and nicer). Nope, I don't think I am at a level to 'showcase' my pictures. Else I would set up a online gallery and point people to it. Will still need guidance and comments on how to improve my pics. Thanks again for the correction. Any more comments, anybody? ![]() |
