The sharpness does look acceptable to me. Lighting that day looks a little flat and dull though. I kinda feel that some of the portraits like the first one would have looked better in a portriat orientation.

I noticed for most of these shots your focus is on the birds chest and body and not the eyes?

i'm a gal in case some of you dont know.
for me to handheld d200 with mb200 +70-200vr + tc1.7...IS INSANE! my arms are 1/3 the thickness of you guys i dare say the above pics are shot with a gitzo monopod.(which cost me a BOMB). damn! u guys must be nuts(pardon me) to believe that i can achieve the above shots at 340mm 1/50s.xiao! if so, i would be a female sniper. ![]() |

haha ... most of us shoot on tripod or bean bag la ... very rarely we shoot hand held and few of us shoot with monopod ...
but it is true that support is a necessity ... |

The last time i went zoo with a 100-400 IS push-pull zoom and did handheld shots. Canon's IS was good for about 3 stops more (acceptable shots at 1/60 at 400mm) My hands were REALLY tired at the end of the day though hehe.. Its good to have a 'supportive' GF to double up as a monopod keke...
