hello,
after reading reviews on standard zoom lenses, i've finally decided to go for either a tokina or tamron. Nikkor is out because the price is like $2.5k haha. So i wanna know which lens you would go for and why? haha... my budget is currently ~$600 for a standard zoom lens =) thanks in advance |

so what's the price for the tokina 28-70 and the tmron 28-75 NEW ? thanks

for the tamron is $615~ ( taken from the nikon lenses price list in CS)
while the tokina is actually a 2nd hand. =) |

how would you compare the tamron 28-75 f2.8 to the nikon 24-85mm f3.5-4.5 ?

how would you rate the tamron? can share a few pics to see the sharness and bokeh?
any issues with your glasses? read online that the QC on tamron not as good and it seeems tat there are a couple of cases where the lens need re-calibration.....

Both are walkabout lenses with nice reach.
I suggest reading MTF charts to compare both lenses and if to see the lens suit your needs. |

I don own this lens for a very long time, but so far so good...
here is another 100% crop and full resized pic, used the same setting as the previous but at 75mm. MTF chart showed that the tamron is weakest at 75mm, so judge yourself. resized pic from D50 ![]() 100% crop of above img ![]() |
