Default Should I get D80 with Kit lens or....

    Hi all bros and sis,

I know this topics may have been discussed lots of time... but really need you guys value advises .

Am going to get D80 soon, but unsure of getting D80 with kit lens ( got quoted $1950 ) or just the body and with the Nikkor 18-200 VR . Advise from my friend to get e 18-200 VR instead as its more ' worth ' it in long run.

However, I still wanna get other stuff eg. ( bags, SD cards, Dry cabinet , monopod/tripod etc ) which means it might be over my budget of 2.5k .
Realise that am more towards marco shots, hence will be getting macro lens in future once I am more confident with my shots.

Last question, when taking macro shots, a tripod or a monopod will be more advisable ? Or it solely depends on the object ?

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers....

haha, so we are in the same boat...

    hmmmm... tripod.

I dunno how to phrase it. But i always thought that monopod more ' flexible ' in the way that the object is in certain angle not easily accessible. Then a monopod might be more of a advantage. Perhaps that's just my thinking, coz nvm tried out yet. Maybe experts out there can enlighten me....

it depends on your budget and what you will be shooting
if you will be shooting more macro, then get a macro lens, it should be more worth in the long run because you will use it more.

    or a 2nd Hand 18-70 + close up filter

    me no expert lah

btw some ppl cannot shoot macro without a tripod
with the high magnification comes camera shake
so it is best to try out and see what you need.

i suggest a nice zoom for everyday shots - D70 kit lens (metal mount)
    tamron 90mm macro
    dry cabi
    bag
    and flash for a start

    everything else can buy later

    Tamron 90 around $580
    SB800 - $600
    SB600 - $350

18-200 VR is a good travel all in one lens, if you only want to carry one lens
    and travel light

but macro it will not, if you will be shooting moslty macro then the 18-200 will stay in the dry cabi, useful, it is not. Just take up space in the cabi.
buy stuff that you will use now.

or D80 + 50mm F1.8? u should have some spare cash left for ur memory cards, tripod, camera bag, and maybe, flash.

u can always save money first, then get the 18-200mm later
