Default Sigma 17-70

this len is pretty popular in overseas, you can see people discussing it frequently in forums and comparing it to 17-40L lens. It is also getting pretty good review in photography site.

Anyone using this len here, can share your experience? what is the latest price?

well, I have one
to me, it's sharp and the range is great, the macro also great, never worry abt minimum focus.
BUT
that's because i never touch an L lens hahaha so my opinion might not be correct

Tried out the lense recently, it's a pretty good multipurpose lenses. The sharpness is good enough for casual shots and light enuff to carry around. However despite improvements in Sigma's focusing speed, it won't be as fast as original canon lenses, so takes a bit getting use to.

TK Foto quoted me 585 over the phone but no stock currently and agent is also out of stock. You can get the $600 price at John3:16 or TCW (based on 1 week ago info). TCW is grey set. 1 yr warranty at TCW itself.

If you want to check focussing, the following site has a simple to use test. With a good friendly shop, they may even allow you to do a quick test in the shop I think. Just print out and bring along the chart.

i got a sigma 17-70 for my KM 5d....surprisingly good @ wide open!!! 17mm @ f2.8 sharpness is good, better if stopped down.

70mm @ f4.5 see this link: http://picasaweb.google.com/cyjphoto...19524352652738

i posted that photo as it is, no sharpening or anything. 100% view shows the thing still damn sharp

surprisingly good lens. not to mention the 1:2.3 macro is good enough for most uses!
