Default Using Your Pentax DSLR

Hi
I found this really useful How-To link buried in the Pentax website.
Useful to newbies like me..

Default Re: Using Your Pentax DSLR

Hi airconvent,

Thanks for the site. Read on the portion which details about sensor and film latitude. I find that my DS underpose 0.5 - 1, 70% of the time, this problem has been documented in Dpreview way long before I got my DS so I thought it's the tendency of the camera to under exposure to keep details. Till I read in the site that it is because that DSLR sensor record shadows details better but will wash out details in highlights so it make more sense to under exposure and keep all the details. So it's the sensor and not a Pentax thing.

I wonder will other brand like Canon and Nikon also tend to under exposure? I'm just wondering how does different brand treat this issue? Maybe Fengwei can throw some light on this.
