Hi
The children can't sit still the little girl can't keep still during the prayers.... Lighting them up Apparently, there are quieter corners where one can do the lightup without hassle... Meditation To see the whole lot, click Mercy Seeking Some Technical notes: I recently bought a LCD monitor after my CRT died on me, and these are the first I scanned using the new monitor. From my experience with laptop LCDs, things always look better on LCDs than conventional CRTs, and I haven't calibrated my new LCD yet, so these may not appear as well as intended on your CRT. Let me know if they don't appear well and why as i'm interested in how they look on others' PC. They look ok here, and i can see lots of details in the shadows, but I just got someone who told me the opposite... |

Did you have any problems bringing your camera inside the temple at Waterloo street? Brought me gear there last year but was shooed away by the folks working there. Was at the Tua Peh Kong temple at Pasir Ris this time round.. got some pretty decent shots + a lion dance troupe even offered to buy up my photos. pre-focusing using ye leica? rOCh |

Just wondering why the title?
Is it because of "goddess of mercy"? Cannot understand title... |

![]() Well, technically, I'm abit uncomfortable it, because "Mercy Seeking" somehow feels "wrong". Some things just aren't meant for translation, and the English name of "Goddess of Mercy" just doesn't convey the right image to people who don't understand the concept in the first place. "Goddess of Mercy" may marginally be accepted as the "english title" of Guang Yin. But alot of the original concept has been lost. And "Mercy Seeking" really don't cut it at all (no offense to the photos or photog, just trying to clear up misiformation before it happens). Rather than "Mercy", a better word could have been "Deliverance", as the Goddess is technically one known for delivering devotees from sufferings and disasters. More appropriate than "Mercy" (she's "merciful" because she feels that sufferings of others and want to help them), I think... |
