Default Regarding 3party battery (BLM-1) for your camera

I'd like to ask ppls here how much you pay for a 3rd-party battery (model: BLM-1, used by CAMEDIA C-5060 Wide Zoom CAMEDIA C-7070 Wide Zoom CAMEDIA C-8080 Wide Zoom Digital E-1 Digital E-300 Digital E-330 Digital E-500 EVOLT E-300 EVOLT E-330 EVOLT E-500)?

I checked price in some local stores. It costs about 45SGD which I believe is too expensive. A very interesting article showing the comparison between original and 3rdparty batteries. http://www.molon.de/8080/blm1/ In this article, two points have attracted my interest:

1. No point to buy original battery although it is slightly better than 3rdparty one;
2. The price of 3rdparty battery can actually be very cheap. (the total price for two 3rdparty batteris is only USD17 was reflected in the article, Including shipping charge).

My questions is whether we can find cheap and reliable 3rdparty battery in Singapore? If not, is it possible to order from overseas? I found cheap battery from Hongkong ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/batteria-for-OLY...QQcmdZViewItem The only concern is that the shipping charge is too high. Any comments? Thanks.

Suggest you read this page about clones, especially regarding the lack of short circuit protection:
http://t5r.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/e1/clonetests.htm

Personally I own four ORIGINAL BLM-1's...my camera is not worth saving a few bucks on a clone battery.

If go through the article quoted by you carefully, it can be find that the intent is to recommend some 3rd party batteries with both good quality and price? Of course, I agree with you the problem of SC caused by some lousy batteries.

Morning guys...

the XXXXmAh figure... what does it represents?

I am under the impression that the larger the figure, the more power it displaces?
Which may mean larger mAh is better?

Pls correct me if i'm wrong...

mAh stands for Milliamp Hour, a term for how much power a battery will hold. Higher mAh values theoretically last longer without requiring a recharge.

In relation to this, take a look at your BLM-1 charger.

Those that came with your E-300/330/500 is rated at 400 mAh.

The one that comes with the E-1 is rated at 1200 mAh, so it charges the battery way faster.

The charger that Eastgear sells is rated at 700 mAh.

Eastgear BLM-1s are rated at 1700 mAh. Oly BLM-1s are rated at 1500 mAh, so the Eastgear ones lasts a little bit longer.
