Default K100D Dual Lens Kit(Canada) worth it?

Found this online shop selling K100D with 18-55mm & 50-200mm for 800 Canadian dollars. It comes with international warranty & shipping to Singapore is 75 Canadian dollars. Total 875 CAD = about S$1204 Do you guys think it's worth it?

Refer to: http://www.adencamera.com/prod-overv...590&Category=1

Quote from email:

Hi,

Insured shipping through International Air Parcel through Canada Post will cost $75.00CDN and there is a valid one year Pentax International service warranty as printed on the Pentax International World Wide Service certificate.

Regards,
Ed

If I'm not wrong, K100D with 18-55 sells for S$11xx and 50-200 for about S$400, both with GST.

This comes up to savings of about S$300.

Do a search on eBay here:
http://listings.ebay.com/_W0QQsocmdZ...e=search&fgtp=

A K100D with kit lens should hover about US$550 new. Factoring in shipping, a US merchant is still cheaper than from Canada. Plus I know for a fact Canadian shipping is pretty expensive. So if I were you, I would check before making that purchase.

You need to add 5% import tax on top of that, but price is still quite good.

I wish we could see some bundled deals here locally from Pentax (like Sony and Nikon ...)

Got this reply from Pentax Canada.

Dear XXX

Yes this applies with all pentax companies ,

Any pentax camera has a 1 year international warranty
So if you buy in canada and you need service in Singapore
They should be able to do the repairs there .

Thank you,

Alain

Well, better check w/ the local agent before you do the purchase, if you still want the warranty.

Good luck,

Good luck,
It's a good deal, but I'm still waiting for the K10D before I decide what I want

reading around seem to suggest really bad battery life... is that a consideration?

Which one? You mean K100d? I never heard of this problem w/ K100d, or any other Pentax dSLR cameras, especially if proper batteries are used. I can easily get around 2k shots w/ a pair of CRV3 batteries w/ my Ds, and I think the K100d should be similar.

Read this: http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-...?msg_id=00Ih1T

I qoute from the link above:

So far I've shot almost 1250 shots on the same 2500ah rechargeable Nimh batteries. While out shooting yesterday, I found that if battery level dropped, I just had to turn off the camera for a minute and the batteries rebounded. How many more can I get? I don't know--these batteries just won't quit. I feel like Kramer in that Seinfeld episode when he refuses to fill up the car with gas....

1250 shots on one charge! That's excellent battery life if you ask me, especially consider 2500mA rechargeable AA batteries are used...

The K100D doesn't like alkaline batteries, and old nimh battries.

new nimh does very well.

1150 is not that great a price in sg.

I hope I am not digging, but is the import tax on the Singapore side of Canada's side?
