If editing photos only, CPU also no need so high end liao. Get a future proof mobo with low end CPU, save a lot. Then upgrade when need. RAM already 2GB n GPU mid range one, no fear on photo editing.
    Only Sony device mostly, haha!

    Intel C2D 6300 + Gigabyte 965P DS3 $545 (Hardware Place @ SLS)
2 x Patriot 667 ram 1gb $360 (you will need this for efficient photoshopping)
1 x Seagate 80GB Sata2 7200 $69 (use this for OS boot, programs, if crash, all ur photos on the BIG HDD is still ok)
    1 x Seagate 320GB Sata2 7200.10 $166 (save all photos, data here)
    Asus EN7600GS Silent 256MB DDR2 PCI-E graphic card $192
    Sony/NEC DVD+-RW/CDRW combo $75
    CoolerMaster 430w & CoolerMaster Elite 330 case $138 (Bell @ SLS)

    Total - $1545

    Just Note
ram 2x1gb for Dual Channel (Most brands recommend so far ok)
Separate OS/boot HDD (Very important - safer. Crash also never mind, can restore, or even reformat and reinstall OS)
BIG Storage!! (I have 2x320gb for my photos, 1 for Work in progress, 1 for storage)
(Actually these can buy 2nd hand off HWZ/VRZ, can save some more money)

What if your Seagate 320GB hard disk failed?
Try to RAID your data disk if possible ....

My reply is based on the following statement.
01 x Seagate 80GB Sata2 7200 $69 (use this for OS boot, programs, if crash, all ur photos on the BIG HDD is still ok)
External backup is not a good option as the latest data in your backup will be your last backup. Your current data will not be there.
How frequent do you backup? If data is important, RAID is the way to go. It is still possible with minor changes.

    Intel C2D 6300 + Gigabyte 965P DS3 $545 (Hardware Place @ SLS)
2 x Patriot 667 ram 1gb $360 (you will need this for efficient photoshopping)
2 x Seagate 250GB Sata2 7200.10 $266 (RAID 1 - create 2 partitions, OS & data. 20GB is sufficient for OS and programs. Save all photos in the data partition)
    Asus EN7600GS Silent 256MB DDR2 PCI-E graphic card $192
    Sony/NEC DVD+-RW/CDRW combo $75
    CoolerMaster 430w & CoolerMaster Elite 330 case $138 (Bell @ SLS)

    Total - $1576

I assume you don't need a monitor, keyboard and mouse....so that's all about it....but seriously the PSU looks like the weakest link now.....get something more efficient...an Antec or silverstone if you can stretch your dollar a bit especially now you have 3 HDD...even the coolermaster themselve have a higher end version call iGreen series...this model boost efficiency of 85%

    Enjoy here http://www.hardcoreware.net/reviews/review-338-1.htm

Do you think I should get the parts tomorrow and get it done, or do I get some savings if I wait till the SITEX show end of the month, maybe to buy some standard PC?

I think you got to weight your opportunity cost, if you buy tomorrow, you have at least 1 week to shiok with the new system....Sitex might have freebies here and there especially memory modules and storage devices.....but be prepared to squeeze and fight for service with other patrons.....hack....you might still need to if you go to Sim Lim on weekend anyway

But still, I will wait if I am you

Unless u are getting a monitor, if not, u can get all parts at SLS anytime, the prices are the same, not much diff at Sitex.
Best is still get the pricelists at SLS before u go down to Sitex.
btw, if u do not know how to DIY, getting from a shop at SLS, pay $50, get them to fix up the system & do a test, is a better option.

go for a 2x 512 ram instead... make full use of the dual channel. you will be left with 2 more slot for future upgrade.
    for graphic im using the X800 GTO 256MB DDR3 256bits @ only about $160.

for building of this PC, you might want to ask them, as far as I know fuwell charge $20.

    Duo = two processors
    Quad = four processors
