But I feel ram is expensive now....with WinXP, 1GB is pretty decent liao...if not next year throw in 1 more GB to 2GB lor With Xmas sales demand coming, I think it's still a bit difficult to see it down...

PC show is just around the corner, so maybe by then you can go expo to look....see....touch and then BBB

2GB of RAM can wait. Honestly. Unless you get 2x 1GB sticks, to utilise Dual Channel. Of course, that is also assuming you are not upgrading to Vista Even then it should be enough.

what's wrong with your PC ? If it's possible to troubleshoot and change a particular part, why buy another PC and having to sell part of your gear ?

wad u need to do is work around your budget.

some parts can reuse just reuse.

Rams, and HDD can use back if u wan to upgrade, den u sell away the existing parts on HWZ, get back some money first.

hmm, maybe to cut cost, consider ASROCK motherboard (It is made by ASUS). Quite good as compared to many others i have used. Have lasted me for the past i think at least 3 years.

PC5300 Kingston DDR2 512MB x 2 $192 (Life time warrranty from Convengent if not wrong, what else can you say?)

    Seagate 320GB Sata2 (make sure it's 7200.10) $166 http://www.seagate.com/docs/pdf/mark...da_7200_10.pdf

Asus EN7600GS Silent 256MB DDR2 PCI-E graphic card $192(Decent performer and I like passive heatsink design, no fan, no noise, I myself using a Gigabyte 6600)

Sony DRU-830A 16x DVD +-RW $75 or Pioneer or NEC if you can find one, I more incline to Japanese brand when come to optical drive, no reason, just brand concious

Verudium Vorte 430W PSU $119 (This one got a lot of recommendation at VRzone and I am using one, stable, quite and drive my overclocked AMD 3200 very well

Total - $1309, no need to sell more cheesecake.....you still have $191 for nice and fancy casing, anything from Coolermaster or Lian li will compliment your little workhorse
I think should top up a bit more for a raid setup

Make it 2k if can la. CPU n GPU mid range. GPU get ard ATI 1900 or Nvidia 7900 series lor. CPU Intel 6600 or 6700 good choice( Another choice, get a low end CPU, upgrade when the price drop, depend on u). Mobo, try to get those support Quad Core type. Also try to target those with bluetooth n Wifi build in etc..., you might need it. RAM standard 2 GB (1GB X 2). Don't buy 4 X 512MB else the speed will be slower, like what happened to me.

Power wise, get min 500W. HDD, get 2 X 300 GB if u got plenty of things to store. If not, settle for a 2 X 160 GB if $/GB is ok. Casing, aluminium type ard $150 should be good enough else go for tower On board sound is more than enough but if u are hardcore gamer, get a X-Fi series, it does help to speed up the game. ROM, normal one boleh liao. external type, does have adv if u own a laptop n it does not have a DVD writer!

No to forget u sure need to buy some new games to test it, haha! That will cost u a bit of $ also. Go to hardwarezone.com to draft out a guide la. But when u reach there, your configuration might change in the end. Anyway, happy shopping!
    Only Sony device mostly, haha!
