And what about the monitor calibrator..
XP Pro 200+ XP Home 100+

monitor calibrator depend on brand & model

If the fan cannot cool down the CPU enuff, then everyone can throw at Intel already... the fan is sufficient for use without overclocking... if u overclock, then u need something powerful to cool it down.

i just built a new pc on friday as well.

    no overclocking business for me.
overclocking kinda means u push the processor beyond it's spec.
like it's rated at 2.4ghz...u push it to 3ghz.

    C2D6600 + Intel DP965LTCK
    2 x 1GB DDR2-667 Kingston PC2-5300
    320GB Seagate HDD
    Samsung DVD
    PSU HEC Ace 480
    xpertvision 7600gs sonic 256mb
    Casing Lian Li PC7 Black
    and a internal card reader

    paid $1703 in total.

i went for the intel motherboard because ppl recommended it for users who don't overclock.
    u can check it out.

i would go for an Asus P5B + E6600 (~$750) and 2x1GB RAM (~$400) and a Seagate 500GB (~$350). Total about $1.5k. For the graphics, reuse, or get a cheap sub $100 card from HWZ forums. Probably don't need a new casing/PSU - the E6600 uses juice than your old system.

Nice, pretty decent specs I would have gone with a better gfx card, then again thats because I do a lot of gaming

Mind sharing which shop you got your set from? My upgrade in Jan or so would be *roughly* similar

the guys on HWZ recommended it for price + performance..as it fits my budget. since im not a gamer.

got everything from videopro. since they have the lowest price.

cheescake: u can go for the 6400 (2mb cache) and u can save $200-300. i went for the 6600 (4mb cache) chip as i know i wont be upgrading for a while already.

You need a complete upgrade if you wanna play new games... I'm setting aside $2k for my upgrade in Jan. Hopefully by then I can get better specs (maybe 2x8800GTX SLi?)
