Default Battery Drain on Vosonic Model VP8360

Calling all those who have bought the above Multimedia from EastGear.

My unit seems to be draining the battery within about one week even if I did not switch the unit on, i.e., after fully charged and without using it the battery will be flat at about one week's time.

Just wonder if my unit is defective? Any other owner with this model having the same problem or only my unit.

Any feedback will be very much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

I have 2 batteries (1 original and 1 third party) and both are able to hold the charge.

Make sure that you totally switch off the unit. The unit will go to sleep (LCD off) after a period of time but the unit is still running at the background.

Ask Eastgear for another battery to test?

Hi Josh, thank you very much.

I never suspected the battery and I also have a spare bought from Eastgear (both batteries are of the same type made by Sanyo). After reading your reply I have changed to my other battery and will see how long this battery will last. Will feedback my result in a few days time and if this battery hold the charge then the first one must be defective.

Best regards,

Hi, me again,

I fully charged my battery last Monday's night and by last night (1 week) my unit has about 10% charge left.

I don't know whether or not this is normal. Eastgear please advise if you are reading this.

BTW, in case you are not aware, there is an upgrade of the firmware for VP8360 at the Vosonic website and with a list of improvement.

Here's a suggestion you can consider to try to isolate the problem:

Fully charge both of your batteries but do not put inside the Vosonic. Just leave them on the shelve or something.
After one week, put inside the Vosonic and power on and see how much charge is left.
This test will tell you whether it's the internal self-discharge of the battery or there is a leak inside the unit itself (ie. drawing more current than usual during standby).

Just bring the unit to EG and they should be able to check that out for you. CS is so big and so many posts per day now...I dont think EG can monitor and notice every post related to them

Thank you, I will try that.
