Well, they have a new film camera, and now this :
Fuji relaunch of Velvia 50 film Well, Fuji definitely makes my favorite colour films these days, hope they thrive and also relaunch all formats of the Velvia 50, such as 120. |

I doubt that they'll get out of it so quickly. Imagine how much they would have spent on film production facilities alone.

I don't think that they ever stopped production or supply in Japan. I suspect that it was just that the European and US business units decided to stop importing it bec they projected declining sales due to the digital onslaught.
I think this 'restart of manufacturing' thing is just a marketing ploy to cover up the fact that they made a boo boo. Anyway, I'm happy to see it's return. |

nice news.
Good to hear that, but my guess is that the price will probably be higher now that its probably targetted at the "niche market" (i.e. hobbyist that don't mind spending more). Of course I'm not sure but if this is the case, and together with the increase in processing prices nowadays for films which I am starting to see, I'm going to keep my plan to move on to digital once my supply of Velvia50 in the freezer runs out. Time to move on. But I'm going to keep a few rolls unopened for old times sake. |

Well, all the best to you moving to digital. As for me I am coming from digital into film
And if film is really gone, there's always the digital backs to fall on.But, sheesh, I went back to buy Provia 100F, and lo and behold, all suddenly sold out at CP, Konotoa, Fotohub, Colourlab. And I just saw some in these shops a few weeks back. I didn't buy more then as I thought they will be there when I need them. I had to buy a whole bunch from HK guys in eBay. Why do I have the feeling that HK guys are having all the fun with film ? ![]() |

I guess that the photo market is more vibrant in HK. I dont complain already, at least in singapore I'd say its not too bad. You can still get some of the stuff like films and chemicals. When you chat with the guys from CP etc, they keep on telling you about how the day before a thai or indonesian guy came to buy a whole carton of film to bring back to their country becuase they dont even sell it there. |

Fuji is dedicated to film, alright. But the problem is not many shop want to bring in slide film. Even those shop that bring it in; they stock only a few. Still back to square one.
And the price is going north all this while. ![]() |

I guess. But I heard one shop says it's Fuji Singapore that is the problem, even they don't bring in enough. Will look into the feasibility of bringing in film for sale
The US, HK side, probably UK too seem still into it. |

I was just thinking... you think we'd be able to get all those film fridges in the shop when they dont need them anymore? How cool would it be to have one at home! |
