Ya, i thought your travel insurance will cover all items lost, but of cos subject to their terms and conditions...You may have to pay a higher premium if you want higher coverage lor...check with your travel agent too or your credit card company...

Travel insurance usually has a per-item cap. This ranges anothing for $300 to $1000, depending on the policy.

You must also be careful to check the wording. The per-item cap is on a set of items. If you have a camera, a lens, a flash, batteries, etc... these may be construed as one set. At least, the insurance company will try to argue that way... and it is difficult to refute their argument.

So, if your gear is very costly, you should get specialised insurance because the general travel insurance will be majorly inadequate.

Anyway... don't bring so much gear lah... Walking around streets of Vietnam with so many motorcycles around is not much fun if you are overly encumbered.

Ask around which insurance scheme covers more..
But saying that, usually coverage for cam+gear not more than $1000..
I think claims for golf gear is higher tho'.. (OT i know)

Was in Hanoi, Halong Bay, HaiPhong in August..
Traffic is crazy, but got lots of chances for street shots..
Took the local bus (4hr @ S$4+) from Halong to Hanoi, very dusty but great experience..
