Default Crumpler help

I want to get a new backpack for travelling which will hold my camera and lenses hopefully a tripod (not essential) and a few other small things like wallet, digimate, bits of food and tissue etc - usual travel stuff. i'll be travelling to places such as s'pore, KL, thailand, hk, china and need something that doesn't scream "I'M CARRYING $3000 OF CAMERA EQUIPMENT!"

i've decided on crumpler for its good looks, large space, rip and water resistant fabric. i know it isn't the most conspicuous of bags but i reckon that it's still better than carrying a dedicated shoulder camera bag such as my Lowepro Nova 2 (can't fit everything anyway).

has anybody had any experience with 'the beer back' and 'the karachi outpost' by crumpler? they both look like they have their ups and downs but the karachi outpost seems to be HEAPS more expensive in australia - A$350 vs A$250 for the beer back.

i'm currently leaning towards the beer back because of this and they look very similar anyway. i also think the beer back can be used for more things than just camera gear as the compartment isnt' taken up by a big camera insert.

do singaporean stores stock The Beer Back and The Karachi Outpost? if so, does anyone have any opinions or a ballpark figure of price?

thanks in advance!

*edit*
found reviews and prices for the Karachi Outpost. not for The Beer Back tho.

try looking at http://www.crumplersg.com
look under backpacks.. the names may be different though.. prices stated are quite true to what you would get in the stores in Singapore..

alternatively --> TK Foto
they also sell the same bags.. gotta email them for a quote..

hope it helps..

Er.. IIRC, thieves overseas nowadays specially target crumpler bags. The idea is if you can afford expensive bags, you'll probably have even more expensive equipment inside..

iirc Karachi Outpost can be found in Singapore.

i wanted to get it in Singapore but decided it was too expensive ... then i realise that it's even more expensive in Japan but frankly, you can't go very wrong with a crumpler

i ended up getting a crumpler messenger bag (the complete seed) with the bucket that goes inside.

i figured that it looks much less like a camera bag and i can also use it for other stuff than putting my gear into. good thing about it is that it's much faster to swing around put my camera in and out of than a backpack. also just as secure with 2 buckles and 3 really tough velcro straps holding it all in.

bought it in melbourne, was not cheap at all =(

Just went to TK Foto and bought a 7 million dollar. It's S$140 after discount and no more bargain. When I asked the dealer about the warranty, he told me no warranty, but if any problem, take back for exchange within 1 or 2 weeks, kinda shop warranty I consider.

So I'm curious of the reason being no warranty. R they selling grey products, or even pirate, or generally these kind of products dun carry any warranty?

Any body encountered this can share with me? Tks in advance.

what i know from CP is that generally, in black and white, bags do not carry warranty.

I don't really think there is a warranty... coz bags can get damaged due to owner's negligence, and it can pass off as the manufacterer's fault easily..
Cumpler's Website doesn't say anything about warranty, only a return policy. Alternatively you can try calling up to ask.. if they have warrranty then check with TK Foto again...

Crumpler used to have a 99 year warranty on all their bags. I'm not sure if they have it anymore.

It used to cover any damage like ripping of the seams and chicken-tex fabric.

TK sells their 7 million dollar home cheaper than the boutiques, but i still bought mine from the boutiques cos feel more secure though.

As said in earlier posts too, i've not heard of bags carrying any warranty.
