which version is ur 80-200?
1). AF80-200 f2.8 push pull 2). AF80-200 f2.8D push pull 3). AF80-200 f2.8D (2-touch whereby the focusing and zoom are 2 seperate rings) if urs is the first, depending on condition, shud fetch around S$650/.+- used. 2nd would be around S$750/.+- used 3rd if in really mint condition, around S$1.1k.

why not read the local review for the 70-200 ??
http://www.clubsnap.org/display.php?...SVRreview.html its a good lens to have. VR is good to have. not a Need to have.

duh. ya, i know vr wont replace need for tripods IF u want a particular scene to be shot with tripod. but most of the time, i just need that little tweak in shutter speed so that it will eliminate the shake for low light conditions only. my gear is killing me.i really dun wanna lug a 3kah(tripod) to kill me further. ![]() |

Are you going to use on bodies like FM2? If so, do bear in mind that the 70-200VR is a G lens and you will have no aperture control.

the 70-200VR is a "sweet" lens...once u try it, u will love it..i got this lens not too long ago, when i shoot the first pic with it and review on the lcd, my impression was oh my god? is tis my d70s?? the color turns out nice and the pic is sharp..although i've not try with the 80-200 series, but i think the title of being a trinity is 名不虚传..save up for it lorz, and wait for MO from sykestang or oracle..

the 105DC is not that popular a lens as compared to the 70-200VR or the 17-55G, hence... it only caters mainly to a small group of users. ![]()

But again, to top up close to 1.6k of dough might be painful, I believe your AF-D 80-200 will serve you well. But if you really want to get a bit more colour, sharpness, better ergonomics, better lense technology, AF-S motor (quieter and faster focusing) and probably better resale value, AF-S 70-200 will be a good choice. (I would buy if I'm in this situation. )
